Sewage Sludge Management and Recovery Strategy

As a member of the “Strategy 2014” Consortium, TRENECON Ltd. participated in the development of the Sewage Sludge Management and Recovery Strategy on behalf of the Directorate General of Water Management.

The Strategy was prepared with a holistic approach with details sufficient to ensure all prerequisites for coherent, cost-effective and early implementation of the proposed development projects.

The Strategy includes a detailed presentation and assessment of the current sludge management in Hungary (state-of-play), the objectives and measurable target values to be achieved as a result of sludge management improvement (goals of the Strategy), the envisaged interventions (set of measures), the human resource, assets, professional, financial and organisational requirements for implementation of the Strategy, the monitoring system (monitoring of output, result and impact indicators) as well as the principles of evaluation.

The Strategy covers the development of the entire municipal sludge management in Hungary for the next 10 years, in the medium term (2014-2023) and gives a longer conceptual perspective through 2027. The Strategy also defines within the 10 year strategic time horizon the short term actions for the next four years that are elaborated in the Sewage Sludge Management and Recovery Programme 2014-2017.
